Mr. Castillo was also formerly an attorney on multiple International Law cases with the American Civil Liberties Union. Mr. Castillo is also a former Orange County Deputy Public Defender.
In 2000, Mr. Castillo joined the Law Office of Barry T. Simons, where he excelled in the practice of Criminal Defense in one of the most conservative counties west of the Mississippi: Orange County, California. In 2016, Mr. Castillo joined Peter F. Iocona, Esq. and Marlo Cordero, Esq. to form The SoCal Law Network. In 2018, Mr. Castillo opened his own firm, Alan Castillo, Attorney at Law.
Mr. Castillo has conducted over 100 jury trials over the course of his career. Mr. Castillo has worked on several cases before the United States Supreme Court including: The United States of America v. Alvarez-Machain and Alvarez-Machain v. Sosa, et al. (i.e. U.S. Government).
Mr. Castillo has also participated in legal writings before the Federal Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal and the U.S. Supreme Court. Additionally, he has participated in Federal Civil cases before the U.S. District Court in the City of Los Angeles.
As a Criminal Defense Attorney, Mr. Castillo has successfully tried cases to Not Guilty Verdicts in domestic violence matters, DUI cases, sexual molestation matters, assault and battery, assault with deadly weapon cases, possession of drugs cases, possession of drugs with the intent to sell matters, and a variety of other misdemeanor and felony matters.
Mr. Castillo has lectured at seminars teaching other lawyers in the State of California on how to conduct DMV Administrative Per Se hearings as well as how to handle DUI cases in criminal court. Mr. Castillo has lectured at California DUI Lawyers Association (CDLA) seminars in the Orange County, Los Angeles and San Francisco as well professional licensing defense.
