Avoid DUI Super Bowl 2016

If you have agreed to be the “designated driver” and you are headed to a Super Bowl party or are some of the fortunate to be coming from the actual game, try not to let your friends convince you to drink, thereby defeating the purpose of having a “designated driver” in the first place. You can still enjoy the Super Bowl while drinking non-alcoholic beverages. I hear all too often from good people who were the “designated drivers” and then ended up getting charged with DUI anyway because their friends were able to convince them to drink despite making the choice to be the “designated driver”. No good deed goes unpunished.

Additionally, and subsequent to the date of the original publication of this blog post, AAA announced that it would be offering free tow service home as part of its "Tipsy Tow" Program, which will allow people at either the Super Bowl or a Super Bowl Party to get a free tow home from 6:00 p.m. on Super Bowl Sunday to 6:00 a.m. Monday morning. The best part of the Tipsy Tow Program is that it is open to everyone, not just AAA Members; but will only be offered in the San Francisco Bay area. Regardless, way to go AAA!

Remember, Super Bowl Sunday often consists of lots of eating, drinking and having a good time; but that good time can come to a quick end when the law comes knocking on your door or pulls you over on the roadway. So regardless of whether you are attending the actual Super Bowl or attending a Super Bowl Party, please be safe and be sure to drink responsibly. Enjoy the game.
